Dear Friends,

Thank you for your support that brought me back to the Santa Rosa City Council.

I very much appreciate the opportunity to serve you as Trustee on the Santa Rosa Junior College Board from 2004 - 08.  It is interesting to note the myriad ways our SRJC affects and is affected by the City of Santa Rosa, the County and the nine individual municipalities.  How we "grow" our labor force, incubate our businesses, and finance our endeavors calls for the cooperation of all residents and governing bodies.

I look forward to a collaborative approach in problem solving to address the fiscal needs as well as the complex social fabric of our diverse population.  Please do contact me if you wish to discuss your concerns and how we can accomplish our goals.

Sincerely,

Marsha

Marsha Supports the National Labor Relations Act of 1935 in Press Democrat Letter

Dear Press Democrat Editorial Staff:

Because your news and editorial departments have raised much ado over the SEIU pledge signed by me and three other Santa Rosa City Council candidates, we request that the pledge be defined for the readers.  The full text is here.

This pledge does nothing more than support the right of workers to choose a union as codified in state and federal law. Among the provisions, it asks for support and encouragement for workers who are organizing a union, support for workers to be able to freely choose a union without employer interference, and to support the position that no taxpayer money should be spent interfering with the right of workers to freely choose a union.

Signing this pledge supports workers lawful rights and raises no ethical questions for serving on the Santa Rosa City Council.  Also, please note that I have broad community support.  Neighborhood leaders, local businesses, local environmentalists, labor leaders, current and past progressive elected officials, social justice advocates, and housing advocates are all contributing to my campaign.  What I have pledged is to represent all of Santa Rosa to the best of my ability.

Sincerely,

Marsha Vas Dupre
